Egypt is one of the largest exporters of fertilizers in Africa, second only to Morocco.
The Golden Triangle Economic Zone (GTEZ), which concentrates production, will expand under the impetus of three major projects led by Egyptian and Australian investors:
• The Egyptian Financial and Industrial Company (EFIC);
• Mahmoud Muharram, an Egyptian businessman;
• The Australian conglomerate Lionbridge and West tech.
Together, these investors will inject $1.6 billion for the production of phosphate fertilizers and phosphoric acid.
The government is counting on these projects to improve export-related revenues (+17.5%).
