The Togolese government has earmarked 13 billion CFA francs to ensure food security in Togo and enhance the country's resilience by 2030. These funds, representing 25% of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's annual budget for 2024, will finance projects led by local farmers. This initiative is part of Togo's seven-year plan for food security spanning from 2024 to 2030.
The plan aims to combat hunger, strengthen food security in Togo, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. A portion of this budget will be allocated to the National Food Security Agency ( ANSAT ), to continue its efforts in grain conservation, acquisition, and funding local agricultural producers.
It is noteworthy that Togo aims to achieve production levels that meet the nation's entire food needs. Therefore, this program will contribute to these efforts, bolstering the country's food sovereignty and improving the livelihoods of small-scale farmers through enhanced food security in Togo.
